Menika Lue was born in New York and raised in Orlando, Florida. She is the daughter of a Jamaican mother and Jamaican-Chinese father and has studied art since 2011. Menika uses oil paint, sculpture, and mixed media to re-create the black, female body.

Lue pierces, bejewels, and adorns her paintings, along with creating excess room for these figures to live. Menika received the Indiana University (IU) president’s diversity fellowship to pursue her masters degree in fine art and graduated in Spring 2020.
